Workshops

Earth In Focus offer a large range of workshops around the UK covering all aspects of wildlife, landscape and underwater photography. Workshops can be tailored to specific requirements depending on what you want to get out of the session but the main focus will be learning key techniques to help make the most of your time, and camera, in the field.

Your tutors are all highly experienced, award-winning photographers as well as trained ecologists with many years experience in marine and terrestrial ecology.

As well as workshops in the field we also offer post-processing sessions where we will take you through the critical steps in work-flow using software such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, to the stage where you will be confident to print your own images and even develop your own website.

Focus on Otters - photography, ecology and fieldcraft

Species Specific Assignments. It stands to reason that the more you get to know a species and the more time you spend with it, the more you understand it and the better your encounters become. When it comes to photographing a species this is very much the case. We have found ‘Species Specific Assignments’ to be the most productive approach to creating a portfolio of images.

Shetland has the highest density of otters in Europe and is probably one of the best studied populations in the UK. This helps to make Shetland one of the best places in Europe to see otters.

Otters are charismatic loveable animals, full of character and interesting behaviour but can be difficult to find, to follow and to photograph. However, Shetland has the highest density of otters in Europe and probably one of the best studied populations in the UK. This alone makes it one of the best places in Europe to see otters, and what makes it even better is the fact that in Shetland otters spend a lot of their time foraging during the day, significantly increasing your chances of watching and photographing otters.
